Energy Purchase Commitments BC Hydro has entered into long-term contracts to purchase energy to meet a portion of its expected annual electricity requirements. The minimum obligations to purchase energy under these contracts have a total net present value of approximately , 002 million of which approximately , 380 million relates to the purchase of natural gas, at market prices over 30 years, and natural gas transportation contracts. The remaining commitments are at predetermined prices. Payments for the next five years are approximately in millions ; : 2004 , 271; 2005 6; 2006 4; 2007 0; 2008 6. Purchase of Outsourced Administration and Support Functions BC Hydro has committed to the purchase of various administration and business support functions see Note 14 ; . The outsourcing agreement with Accenture Business Services of British Columbia ABS ; covers a period of 10 years and the net present value of the minimum payment commitments is approximately 4 million. Payments for the next 10 years are approximately in millions ; : 2004 0; 2005 - 1; 2006 - 4; 2007 - 7; 2008 - 5; thereafter - 4. BC Hydro will be responsible for the payment of certain amounts to ABS in the event of early termination of the outsourcing agreement. ABS will be responsible for procurement of certain computer hardware to be used by BC Hydro. BC Hydro is required to pay the costs associated with acquisition and financing of this equipment under a leasing facility. The total value of assets to be purchased will vary over the term of the agreement subject to a maximum of million under the leasing facility, and with overall draws expected to reach million within the first 2 years of the agreement term. BC Hydro will account for these asset transactions as capital leases. Demand-side Management BC Hydro has entered into Power Smart incentive and energy study agreements with customers for which the work on the projects is not yet complete. BC Hydro has committed to payments under these agreements totaling approximately million over the next three years as follows in millions ; : 2004 ; 2005 - ; 2006 - . These payments will be made contingent on the customers meeting certain criteria under the agreements. Legal Contingencies a ; The rapid rise of wholesale power prices and in-state supply shortages caused significant financial hardship for a number of utilities in California during fiscal 2001. These utilities defaulted on payments to the California Power Exchange "Cal Px" ; and the California Independent System Operator "Cal ISO" ; . As a result of the payment defaults by these utilities, the Cal Px and Cal ISO have been unable to pay amounts owing to Powerex. At March 31, 2003, the amount owing from Cal Px and Cal ISO was US 6 million Cdn 9 million ; . A portion of this amount was not recognized as revenue due to market uncertainty. BC Hydro has recorded provisions for uncollectible amounts and legal costs associated with the ongoing legal and regulatory impacts of the California energy crisis. These provisions, based on management's best estimates, are intended to provide for any remaining exposure. In addition, the State of California has requested the Federal Regulatory Commission "FERC" ; to consider whether refunds should be made to Cal Px, Cal ISO and the California Department of Water. Prausnitz and coworkers have collected literature permeability data for almost 150 compounds for transport across the cornea, sclera, and conjunctiva, as well as the epithelium, stroma, and endothelium Prausnitz and Noonan, 1998 ; . They subsequently developed theoretical models, based on 25 compounds from the original data set which have permeabilities measures for both the cornea, and endothelium plus stroma at pH 7.6 ~ 7.65 Edward and Prausnitz, 2001 ; . These 25 structurally and chemically diverse compounds, which also vary in net charge at the common pH, were used as the training set in the study represented here. Since the cornea is composed of epithelium, stroma and endothelium layers, the permeability of the epithelium can be expressed as: 1 Pepi Pcornea Pendo stroma 2.

October: Germans raise draft age from 49 to 60. 9 October: Eighth Air Force--dispatches more than 100 bombers for the first time. 21 October: Eighth Air Force--flies first mission against Uboat targets. 2223 October: Bomber Command--begins a series of attacks on northern Italy with a raid by 100 bombers on Genoa to aid invasion of North Africa and operations in Egypt. 23 October: British 8th Army--begins counteroffensive at El Alamein, Egypt. 24 October: Lancasters attack Milan. Continuing pressure from the Allied navies for assistance in the Battle of the Atlantic resulted in both Bomber Command and the Eighth taking on additional tasks. Antisubmarine activities led Bomber Command's No. 2 Group to search out new targets such as U-boat yards in Flensburg and the Stork U-boat diesel engine works at Hengelo in the Netherlands, which it attacked four times. The command, on the 13th of the month, also sent 246 heavies to attack the city area of Kiel, a port that contained a major German naval base. On 17 October Bomber Command sent out 94 Lancasters in a daylight raid to demolish one of the largest armaments factories in France, Le CreusotSchneider and its associated transformer--power plant at Montchanin. Their round-trip amounted to almost 1, 700 miles, the longest mission yet flown by the command. Flying from the tip of the Cornish Peninsula, they made a wide loop around the Breton Peninsula and entered France from the Bay of Biscay. The circuitous route, their low altitude, and good luck let them avoid. The outstanding piece of work completed during t h e year was the Preliminary Union Liat of Periodicals in the Libraries of the San Francisco Bay Region exclusive of t h two university libraries and their branches, already recorded in the Gregory List ; , a publication of over 100 pages. This project, under way for aeveral years, was brought t o a auccessful conclusion by I s Jackson and her committees. The Pacific Gas & Electric Company generously contributed the paper, mimeographing and binding. The company's librarian, M s r. Agnes G. Reinero, was named chairman of a new committee for the object of keeping the list up to the minute. The card file has been placed a t the California State Chamber of Commerce, where Mrs. Amy M. Caya, research librarian, will be custodian and answer requests for information. The committee is planning to issue supplements from time t o time. The publication of the Union List was made the occasion of preparing to issue shortly a circular letter to a list of 100 firms and organizations in the city selected by the publicity committee for the purpose of broadening our field of influence and seeking to make the business and professional sections of the community more special-library conscious. The activities of the committee got off to a good start in October a t the regular meeting a t the Women's City Club, with a talk by Shirley Walker, of the Walker Advertising Agency, who entered with enthusiasm into the committee's plans by offering specific advice and suggest~onson the various projects under consideration. Another of the publicity committee's activities was codperation with the officers of the Special Libraries Section of the California Library Association, who for the year were Isabel H. Jackson, President, and Margaret M. Miller, Secretary, both members of the local chapter. Ever since the inception of the Section, about four years ago, it hnd been the aim of the founders to provide in this way for an annual meeting of all the special librarians in the state. Miss Jackson and Miss Miller arranged an interesting brace of meetings for Saturday, April 11, a t Del Monte preceding the general sessions the following week. As t h California County Librarians were meeting the same day, a joint dinner was held, with a program keyed to the topic of special library service. Mr, R. Jenney, assistant and triazolam. Upon the Lord, often offense sets in, and then we become bitter. This is exactly what happened to me. I held offense against someone very dear to me. This person hurt me deeply, but I did not allow the healing balm of God's word to help me deal with it in an appropriate way. I went on day after day thinking that I had let it go.that I was fine. Oh, how foolish I was. Things just compounded on top of this thing inside of me. The love and purity that I had for this person was hidden by hurt and anguish. With every passing year, I became more toxic. Let me break here to say that in relationships, it takes two to tango, and I in no way dismissing the other person's role in the demise of this relationship. I simply focusing on my error because it is the only thing I can do anything about. It was argument after argument. And most of these confrontations were because I felt misunderstood and had a burning desire to make my point. Insecurity and self-hate mounted in me. Does this sound familiar ladies? Things grew so desolate that there was no mutual understanding between either one of us. No matter how much was said, there was never resolution to satisfy. This was the most important relationship in my life.and it is now in total ruin. But I have learned much in the last few months. I have come to know a love that has truly transformed the anguished cries of my heart into songs of rejoicing. I have learned to sing when I'm sad.to dance. I really deep in my heart feel the US wants to rule all the world and be THE Super Power and go into other countries and upset their stile of living and their Governments. P ; Also their Religeons. P ; We are creating a big gap between the very Probably the same thing as everyone else the prices of gas and food, Prices are just to high. P ; Well Social Security. P ; It's obvious, most people are talking about it Social Security ; the ones who worked for it ar Prices are going up sky high P ; . Intrest rates aren't moving P ; . Unemployment is getting worse P ; . Too many jobs are going over seas P ; . Those are the main points. Because of the direction that our leaders are taking us. P ; The corruption and the greed in the corporate world. And influence and power they have over our leaders. P ; That's it. The deficit. P ; Jobs are going to other countries and not to the Americans. More things are not being made in the US and therefore, Americans are buying them. P ; The deficit is outrageously huge. P ; That's good enough. I'm an educator, so I'm concerned about the no child left behind education bill. I feel a lot of expectations are not being made and not being funded when being made. P ; I don't know. It's hard. Information that's put out I think is slanted towar No. 1 I've been laid off my job. P ; The simple fact that we are fighting in Iraq where we shouldn't be. P ; Has his own agenda that does not match what people want in this country to see happen. P ; I've got the definite impression that the ri We need jobs, health care, and education. P ; Jobs are going out of country. We need jobs that you can raise a family with. We need more jobs that young men can get and feel proud of the International I think other countrys hate us. I think there needs to be more diplomacy. P ; The problem is internationally not domestic. P ; That's all The president lied to us. P ; I think thats good enough. Family values seem to have gone out the door. P ; That probably sums it up for me. Because I feel that we had a kind of senseless war, it could have made sense if we found something, but we did'nt, and we lost several people, and we have'nt found anything. I did'nt say any of it made sense. P ; My opinion on the war-I think it was pe Insurance is really high prescription drugs are outrageous everything is going up, it is almost impossible to make ends meet. That's it. We spend all this money building up other countries. We should be taking c are of our own. P ; That's about it. Well, I think the leadership is all wrong, they put us in a war we shouldn't be in, there are too many people unemployed. P ; The school systems aren't provided with enough funds to function, they're not doing enough for the environment. P and trifluoperazine. We have estimated the export production using drifting sediment traps and the measurement of the thorium disequilibrium. The contents and the recycling rate of carbon in the sediments have also been measured to quantify the burial rate of the carbon to the sediment. Our preliminary results show that during spring 2006, before the spring bloom, CO2 was absorbed into the sea at to 1 mmol.m-2.day-1, while during summer 2005 CO2 was released from the sea to the air at 0.5 to 2 mmol. m-2.day-1. We plan to make another survey this coming norther ; summer. We also have conducted basin-wide surveys and found that the EJS acts as a sink of CO2 to absorb 0.045 Gt-C per year of which about 2 is due to the physical pump. This amount is about 2% of the total annual oceanic uptake of 2.1 Gt-C. Using the helium isotope method, we found the total new production is 14.6 mmol.m-2.day-1, which is comparable to those in the northwest Pacific. The East China Sea is one of the largest continental shelves in the world, with very high production, and believed to play an important role in the global biogeochemical cycles. One of the world largest.

All examined tissue regions figs 3b, 4a, 5 and 6 ; . However, areas with extensive or completely degranulated eosinophils were present only during the pollen season figs 4b, c, h, i and 5 ; . Among the pre-seasonal tissue eosinophils, an average of 372.7% of the granules were altered as a result of PMD fig. 3b ; . The granule alterations during PMD were characterised by mild-to-moderate loss of either core or matrix, or moderate-to-complete loss of both compartments fig. 4dg ; . In association with seasonal pollen exposure, the extent of degranulation was increased to meanSD 871.8% altered granules pv0.01 ; , and, in many eosinophils, every granule displayed signs of protein loss. Thus, eosinophils exhibiting signs of severe-to-complete loss of granule content were exclusively observed during the pollen season. The seasonal tissue eosinophils involved in extensive PMD also contained increased numbers of small secretory granules compared with the eosinophils observed in the tissue prior to the pollen season. There was a significant correlation between the PMD index and levels of ECP in the histamine lavage fluids r 0.629, pv0.05 ; , as well as between tissue eosinophil numbers and levels of ECP in these lavages r 0.637, pv0.05 ; . Otherwise, the lavage fluid levels of ECP exhibited no correlation with eosinophil features examined in this study table 1 ; . In general, the epithelial layer was well preserved both before and during the pollen season. However, in few scattered areas of biopsies obtained during the season, signs of patchy epithelial damage and repair were found. Epithelial changes in these regions included a reduced epithelial thickness and occurrence of epithelial metaplasia with poorly differentiated epithelial cells [23]. Interestingly, eosinophils. Key performance indicators and drivers that our management uses for the management of our business include, among others, the general economic conditions in the Philippines, our subscriber base, traffic volumes, and interconnection arrangements. Wireless Our wireless business provides cellular and satellite, VSAT and other services, with cellular services contributing about 97% and satellite, VSAT and other services contributing 3% of our wireless service revenues as at December 31, 2004. Rapid growth in the cellular market has resulted in a change in our revenue composition and sources of our revenue growth. Starting 2003, cellular service has been our major revenue source surpassing fixed line revenues by five percentage points. As at December 31, 2004, Smart and Piltel, which offers service using Smart's network, had the largest and third largest cellular subscriber bases, respectively, in the Philippines. In addition, Smart's and Piltel's subscribers increased by 48% in 2004, resulting in our aggregate system-wide cellular subscribers outnumbering our fixed line in service by more than 9 to 1 the end of 2004. Cellular data services, which include all text messaging and text-related services ranging from ordinary text to value-added services, contributed significantly to our revenue increase. Cellular service revenues accounted for 56%, 51% and 42% of our total service revenues for 2004, 2003 and 2002, respectively. Fixed Line Our fixed line business provides local exchange service, international and national long distance services, data and other network services and miscellaneous services. Until 2003, fixed line services have been our major revenue source contributing 56% and 69% of consolidated service revenues in 2002 and 2001, respectively. Although relatively stable in absolute terms, our fixed line revenues' contribution to total operating revenues have declined to 38% in 2004, largely due to the substantial growth in our wireless business. Local exchange revenues have declined slightly owing to shift in subscriber preference from postpaid to prepaid service. National long distance revenues have also been declining largely due a drop in call volumes, and an increase in the proportion of calls subject to revenue sharing with other carriers. Mitigating these declines was the steady growth of our data and other network services over the recent years. Recognizing the growth potential of the data and other network services segment, we have put considerable emphasis on the development of new packet-switched, data-capable and internet-based networks. International long distance revenues have declined until 2002 due to lower inbound call volumes, lower termination rates and increased competition and substitution, but has increased its contribution to the overall fixed line revenues in 2003 and 2004 on account of an increase in our average termination rates in 2003.

Results At 24 months, in the CAS group, 6391 patients 81.5% ; were taking verapamil sustained release; 4934 62.9% ; were taking trandolapril; and 3430 43.7% ; were taking hydrochlorothiazide. In the NCAS group, 6083 patients 77.5% ; were taking atenolol; 4733 60.3% ; were taking hydrochlorothiazide; and 4113 52.4% ; were taking trandolapril. After a follow-up of 61835 patient-years mean, 2.7 years per patient ; , 2269 patients had a primary outcome event with no statistically significant difference between treatment strategies 9.93% in CAS and 10.17% in NCAS; relative risk [RR], 0.98; 95% confidence interval [CI], 0.90-1.06 ; . Two-year blood pressure control was similar between groups. The JNC VI blood pressure goals were achieved by 65.0% systolic ; and 88.5% diastolic ; of CAS and 64.0% systolic ; and 88.1% diastolic ; of NCAS patients. A total of 71.7% of CAS and 70.7% of NCAS patients achieved a systolic blood pressure of less than 140 mm Hg and diastolic blood pressure of less than 90 mm Hg. Conclusion The verapamil-trandolapril-based strategy was as clinically effective as the strategy in hypertensive CAD patients. 948. Efficacy and Safety of Rilmenidine, a Selective Imidazoline I1 Receptor Binding Ligand, in Mild-to-Moderate Thai Hypertensive Patients - Buranakitjaroen P., Kittipawong P., Koanantakul B. et al. THAILAND 2003 86 10 ; summ in ENGL, THAI Background: Rilmenidine is an antihypertensive agent that selectively binds to imidazoline I1 receptor located in the brainstem and kidney. It acts both centrally by reducing sympathetic over-activity and in the kidney by decreasing water and sodium overload. This dual action leads to the immediate and delayed control of blood pressure caused by this drug. Objective: The aim of this study was to assess the efficacy and safety of rilmenidine as monotherapy in mild-to-moderate essential hypertensive patients. Method: An Section 38 vol 39.2.
